A wildfire west of Berthoud destroyed one home and burned 21 acres after a battery used in an outdoor lighting fixture failed. The incident occurred during Red Flag conditions with high wind and low humidity. The Larimer County Sheriff's Office concluded the fire was accidental and attributed it to the old battery, based on evidence found near the origin point. No injuries were reported, but evacuations were necessary.
